Fitting in…

When you see vehicle options like these…

It’s like it gives you permission to make a choice that you never would at home. Ha! (Also. This scooter is definitely not built for three people.)

To transfer hotels we couldn’t all fit with our backpacks and had to make two trips.

Farrell put a pin in for Utah. Looks like we’re the first ones to this hotel from Utah. Nice!

Melissa is a seasoned traveler. Her backpack has been with her to Nepal and Everest base camp. And now here in Southeast Asia. Me and my backpack? I feel like I look like a poser. Ha! (I’m sure the fact that it’s new might have something to do with it.) πŸ€ͺ We’ve always traveled with suitcases. But there is something about a backpack that gives you more freedom in navigating through the world. Especially on a scooter…

As the day continued (July 10) the rain came and we were so wet! Each time we rode just felt more and more comical. We were laughing so much! (As in I was wheezing and not breathing.) And I would wave to people as we passed them, because hey, they were definitely looking at us! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

We ran into a couple of women (from Chili) who Melissa met when she first arrived in Vietnam back in April. Staying in hostels has been fun for her and interesting how often she crosses paths again with some of them.

We scootered to the beach to put our feet in. The ocean was so warm!! So we swam until it turned dark. I lost my favorite sunglasses when a wave completely submerged me. Dang.

We returned to the hotel to change clothes and head out to buy some new glasses. At the hotel we realized that with the rain, we wouldn’t stay dry. So we just headed back out to an outdoor market for new sunglasses and street food. So many people here with ponchos on in the rain on their scooters. Not us! We’re either drenched in sweat or drenched in rain!
