Goodbye Cambodia
We so enjoyed the connections we made with people here. Just quick saying goodbye to the hotel owners. He told us he would like to visit America but probably never would. Their bank account gets reviewed in order to grant a visa to make sure they have enough money. His lovely wife cooked us breakfast in the mornings. She didn’t speak English but had such a beautiful smile as I tried to talk to her. 😊 His English was quite good.
Now we’re off to Thailand! (July 8)
The baggage claim at the airport. I loved all the tropical plants.
Zoom in to see the dog on the back of the scooter! Also, they drive on the left side of the road in Thailand. We had an interesting convo with our driver. He would speak into his phone in Thai and google translate would tell us what he said. Then we would do the same from English to Thai. He has an adopted uncle (?) who lives in America. The place that people only use animals for doing farm work. No tractors… (we googled Amish to see if we could possibly it figure out what he was talking about. Still don’t know. 🤷🏻♀️) I think that’s the strangest concept of what America is like that I’ve ever heard!
We made our way into old town Phuket for dinner. And it just happened to be a one star Michelin restaurant where we ate delicious Thai crab curry with noodles. 😋

We found a very small branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to go to today. One missionary took care of translating the meeting. We wore headsets and it worked great! The elder both translated and played the piano for all the hymns. 👏👏 Afterwards I asked him if he needed a nap?! I sure would.

Making our way to the bus station in the rain. Our packs all have matching rain flys.

Long bus ride to get to Krabi Thailand. (With free WiFi on board I used the opportunity to start this blog.)
Then we caught a ride to our new place in the back of a pickup truck that had been converted to have bench seating along the sides, open windows and a roof.
It’s delightful to be with Melissa. She said “sorry I talk so much! I haven’t had anyone to talk to in months!!” 😊 We love it. You just go ahead and talk sweetie.
