Deciding to go ✈️

Back in April, we helped Melissa move out of her apartment into a storage unit in Surprise, Arizona. She had recently quit her job and was planning to take a break and travel the world for an unknown amount of time. She did decide what portion of her savings she was willing to part with to make the trip happen and her plan was to travel until that amount of money spent.

After googling “cheapest places to travel in the world,” she flew off to travel around SouthEast Asia. So far she has traveled the length of Vietnam, Laos, and Northern Thailand.

She has invited us to come visit her several times. We decided to send Farrell to spend some time traveling with her and go to Cambodia and southern Thailand. He booked his flight to leave on Monday evening, July 3, 2023.

6 days before that, after several convos, I woke up in the middle of the night and thought “why am I not going with him??” There were multiple reasons why I wasn’t going in the first place, but some circumstances had changed. And, we decided I should go too!! But keep it a secret and see if we could possibly surprise Melissa. 😊

I am a sucker for shells. And rocks. And leaves. Basically all of the fascinating details one comes across in nature...  I’ve been to this beach in Puerto Penasco, Mexico multiple times and it never fails to amaze me how the ocean continues to produce shells with every tide.    Shouldn’t the ocean have run out by now??  I've always been drawn to the many perfect shells. Tuk Tuks and Scooters

They’re everywhere! There are cars and trucks here in Cambodia but it seems the main mode of transportation is either pulled by a scooter or is a scooter.  It turns out we love to travel in these little buggies out in the open air. I wonder if many of these little carts were once pulled by horses. The wood carving on the interior carriage seems like it is from a previous lifetime. . And scooters! Rain or shine! I kept taking pictures because of 3-4 people per scooter. And children. Ha!

I miss my parents. How grateful I am for the light, example and love they showed me throughout my life.  Verlin and Dot Simmons… aren’t they just the cutest?? Quite a few years ago I was in the midst of re-painting the house and other major projects. I don’t remember what particular deadline I had looming but I do remember kneeling down to pray one night—completely exhausted. I had done everything I possibly could but it wasn’t enough. I plead for help in my prayers. I didn’t know what God would do to bail me out of my situation, but I desperately needed help. Early the next morning, my parents came through my front door. I was taken aback. I had deliberately NOT told them of my situation because I knew they were in the middle of big project of their own—moving their home based business office out to the shop.
